Oh Happy Days!

Lisa and I have been doing school together since the first day of kindergarten. Well, kinda. Brendan and Chase were in the same class. When first grade rolled around she started homeschooling Brendan and Chase was still at public school. By the Christmas break I was convinced bringing chase home was the best answer. Some where soon after that Lisa and I began capturing teachable moments together. I'm not sure when it really all started to come together but it has grown into something so easy and natural. This morning I received a text from Lisa. Next thing I knew we were heading down to Canaveral to investigate the U.S.S. Ponce.

We look tough right? OK so maybe not really but look at those smiles.

This gun was a little heavy. But Reese was going for the big boy.

Right before I tried this gear on all the boys had tried on some with ceramic plates in them. They were really heavy. I decided I would try to impress the boys by showing them how strong I was by jumping with all my gear on (which didn't have the ceramic plates) but they figured out what I was up to and well . . . I think Reese's face says it all in this picture. But I still got a chuckle.

The hat was on the heavy side. Look how Reese is struggling to lift his head up. I can't imagine having to wear all that gear for a long period of time. One of the simple things that we don't think much about when we think about the men and women who serve our country is the load they "take on" for us to live in a free country.

Lunch anyone?

Captain Keener at your service.

This bad boy can shoot up to 4.5 miles. All the guns scattered about the ship was eye candy for Reese.

I am thankful for FREE spur of the moment schooling moments with my friend Lisa. Yes, today's trip on the ship was free - the best things in life really are free. The only thing that would have made this day any better would have been to have Chase with us. Asking all his great questions.
