Birthday!!

Last night we sat on the couch with our precious boy and reminisced about the day he was born.  He was all ears.  I found it fascinating that he was so intrigued with the moment that brought him into this world 7 short years ago.

At that time Eric had to be at work at 4 am.  He kissed me good bye somewhere around 3 ish (we lived 45 minutes away from his work) I fell right back into a deep sleep.  At 4:20 I popped wide awake with some serious cramps in my back.  I called Eric and told him it was time and he needed to head home.  Wouldn't you know he took his time, read emails, you know no need to rush.  WHAT!!!  To his defense I had been calling him for 3 weeks letting him know he needed to be on stand by.  By this time he thought it was just another false alarm.  To my defense I had been dilated at 3 cm for 3 weeks.  (And to my knowledge 3 cm is considered active labor so what I was feeling was some real pain)  Back on the home front, my dad was scheduled to stay with Chase when the moment arrived because we only lived 5 minutes from him.  I called and told him no rush but if he could head over in about an hour that would be perfect.  10 minutes later he was at my door.  Little did I know just how fast my labor was progressing.  I was dealing with some serious cramps but having to suck it up so I didn't freak my dad out. (he doesn't deal well with that stuff)  My mom had to come all the way from Palm Coast, I do believe she made it in record time.  I'm still not sure how she got out of bed, dressed, and safely to my house as fast as she did.  In the moment it felt like she was taking for ever, you know how it goes when you don't feel well you just want your momma, well at least I do.  Everyone finally arrived and what does my hubby do?  He takes the long, bumpy way, going under the speed limit, to the hospital.  We FINALLY arrive and they quickly admit me (finally someone is getting the fact that this is really happening and it's really happening quickly) I get checked and we are informed that I am dilated to 8 cm.  About 20 minutes later, we will just say "other signs" start indicating to me that this baby is ready to come.  Sure enough I am at 10 cm but my water hadn't broke yet.  The nurses tell me that the doctor hasn't made it yet so I just need to try to relax.   Really?! But whatever what else am I going to do.  The doctor finally arrives and walks into the room sits down and calmly explains that he had to feed the farrel cats before coming up.  Are you kidding me.  OH and I was throwing up which I found out was because my body was going to push the baby out even if I didn't.  You have to admit God created a really cool thing there.  Well two pushes later, OK three but the first one was what the doc called a practice push, my beautiful little girl - "you have a healthy little boy mom" - you have to be kidding me.  We were told we were having a girl.  I looked at my husband as mumbled something like"now is not the time to be joking" which sweetly let me know there was no joking going on.  Reese was born at 7:22 am.

Well, there you have it.  Almost 48 hours later we finally had a name for our BOY.  The past seven years have been filled with so much joy because of Reese.  God gave me a gift I had no idea just how much I needed.

Here is to my baby turning 7!  Happy Birthday Reese, I love you more than life itself!
